Totally useless. Contains very brief info with little detail. All of the various free internet articles contain far more information. This "book" is a sloppily thrown together superficial commentary on the benefits of winter sowing. I have read many articles on the internet concerning this topic and every single one of them was more comprehensive to include more content, photos and useful information. Quality of the meager photos is very poor, as well. This item would be better labeled a brochure or booklet and is a waste of the $1.00 it cost. If it cost 20 cents it would be too much in view of the free info on the internet. I am looking to see if there is any utility on Amazon to get my money back. If have read internet articles and are hoping to purchase a book to supplement that information, this article which passes as a "book" is not for you. BTW I tried winter sowing with success this past winter. I could not have done so based on the information found in this "book." It would have been useless toward that end. Save your money. Do a Google search instead. This publication represents very poor quality material which is both deceptive from the perspective of the reader and also reflects poorly on Amazon's kindle products. Clear, concise and simple. This little booklet will get you started on your spring gardening while the snow is still blowing. A few clear milk jugs, some seeds of your favorite plants, some soil and you are on your way. I recommend this booklet to anyone that enjoys gardening on any level.
I've tried some winter sowing, but learned some new things from Amy Jo's little book. This book will get you going on a fun way to garden.
A lovely little read! I've been gardening for many years and have never heard of this concept. I can't wait to use what I've learned from Amy to try winter sowing this year. I knew I was hoarding all those clamshell fruit containers for something! The book is direct, clear, and gives all the basic information you need to get started. As a bonus, the flower pictures are beautiful.
I appreciate the practical tips on getting started with seeds early and using readily available materials. I am a gardener in North East Ohio along Lake Erie where we can see frost as late as Memorial Day. So, I will definitely use the information in this book to get a jump on the growing season.
Such a breakthrough concept, and ideal for the sustainable living crowd. I've always suspected that the plants that come up naturally over the winter in my garden might have something on the wimpy, grow-light coddled ones. This is some great reading for a rainy day, and Amy gives simple and straightforward details and steps that will help you sow garden seeds in the frigid winter months to get a head-start on spring planting. As I mentioned elsewhere, what she seems to be creating here are "bionic botanicals" that can stand up to anything Mother Nature throws at them. Freaking brilliant if you ask me. Get Amy's book! You won't be sorry. Too bad I have to wait until next winter to try it out here at home. )
